ABOUT
Sam Richardson
After being hand-picked by Michael Eavis himself to support Wolf Alice and the legendary Supergrass - on their 25th anniversary show, to a sold out 8,000 capacity crowd on Worthy Farm (what would be the last gig on Worthy Farm for 2 years) - Sam Richardson and The Renegades were entrusted with the task of opening the 50,000 capacity Main Stage at Boardmasters 2021 - The first to play the stage since George Ezra closed the festival back in 2018.
Sam Richardson and The Renegades are a soaring 4 piece roots-rock band hailing from the rugged north coast of Cornwall. Sam’s live show evokes the timeless power of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band and Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers with a depth of songwriting built for the modern era. Songs covering the struggles of growing up, the troubled relationships we build with our hometowns, and the lives of the people in these forgotten communities. Step into the open skies and scarred landscapes at the end of the tracks, and the lives of the people that call it their home.
Glastonbury Festival founder and industry legend, Michael Eavis, selected the band to support Mercury Prize winning band Wolf Alice, and culture shaping brit-pop band Supergrass (on their 25th anniversary and their first appearance in 10 years) to a sold out crowd of 8,000 at The Pilton Party 2019 festival on Worthy Farm. The momentous event has been covered extensively in publications such as NME and Rolling Stone, and the band have appeared frequently on BBC Radio and performed live on BBC television (BBC Spotlight).
Previous years have seen support slots for platinum selling artists (including an album launch and 7 nights opening for Newton Faulkner), airplay and interviews for BBC Radio 1, theater performances for Amnesty International alongside acts such as Gary Lightbody (lead singer of Snow Patrol) to audiences including: Sir Patrick Stewart, Jeremy Irons, Snow Patrol and The Kaiser Chiefs.
Find yourself captivated by tales of fugitives, redemption, desperation and watch a stage of some of the best musicians the South-West has to offer, empty the tank.
Sam Richardson and The Renegades are a band not to be missed.
